Showing the light. It is alarming and heart aching to find that in the world, there is one suicide every 40 seconds (according to World Health Organization). People are living without hope and motivation. A future that leads no where and never to improve. As a Christian, what is the best way to bring people to God so that they have a chance to experience the love and hope of Christ? So that they will know who God is and what He represents? Well, definitely it is not through this BLOG. Darrell's got a good point: "you can't teach a person to play the piano, until you yourself know how to play it... and play it well... to some extent, they need to `recognize' the drive in you and aspire to have the same"
I pray that one day, people will see the Spirit of Christ living in me, and will have the desire to follow Christ. As the scripture says, "... let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." Mathews 5:16

What drives me? Yesterday, Darrell and I took a short ride to Half Moon Bay. On our way back, we decided to cool off at Jamba Juice. While we hung out, Darrell asked me the question: what drives me?
This is a good question... Deep in my heart, the drive is clear. There's no doubt about what it is. However, to verbalize it, I know the answer itself requires a long explanation that traces to the heart of my convictions. What matters to me the most? What is important in my life? What do I hope to accomplish in this life?
If life was all there is, then, yes, I would agree that it would be wise to pursue a successful career, million dollar houses, luxurious cars, a good marriage, exotic vacations and leaving behind a legend for the generations to come. It would make sense to take care of self and do whatever that is pleasing, despite the fact that we will never be completely satisfied. In my 28 years of living, God has allowed me to experience His presence more and more, and I firmly believe that there is more to this world than this life. For the scripture says "For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:18. There is only a limited amount of time to invest in things that last forever. If we miss the opportunity, it is gone forever. I would be trembling with fear to find that at the end of my life, I had lived a life that is a total loss.
If eternal things are the things that I need to focus on, then my ultimate purpose would be to draw near to God and to do things that is pleasing to Him. How do I go about doing that? Well, by doing everything as if I am doing it for His only Son, Jesus. By seeing people through Jesus' eyes and by sharing God's love with the people around me. Yes, my mind often focus on the circumstances ahead of me instead of focusing on God and acknowledging Him. I know that I often disappoint Him. Yet God's grace and mercy is beyond comprehension. He continues to run to welcome me with open arms. As Dr. Hans Wilhelm, a guest speaker at our church, said "As christians, we have hope. This hope is not empty escapism, but a realization that the promised kingdom of God is both a better present and a better future".
